Mr Godwin Obaseki has been sworn-in as the new governor of Edo state, for the next four years, following the expiration of the term of office of Adams Oshiomhole. It was a colourful event on November 12, 2016, at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city, the Edo state capital. Residents, supporters of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) from the state as well as those from other parts of the nation, converged at the facility to witness the inauguration of the governor and his Deputy, Philip Shuabu. In the state box, other dignitaries like the outgoing governor, Adams Oshiomhole and his wife, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, some former and serving governors, were also present at the event.
